What Is It
Will Computers someday be able to have humanlike consciousnes and intelligence? Will they someday outstrip the thinking of humans? Would it matter if they did? Or is Artificial Intelligence on fundamentally the wrong track?
Listening Notes
Experience the early days of Philosophy Talk with our first demonstration pilot. Our topic whether machines can think. This pre-recorded pilot has never aired, but along with pilot #2, it played a crucial role, in gaining airtime for Philosophy Talk. Many of the features that now form a part of our bag of trips were already there. Ian Shoale's Sixty Second Philosopher, the reports of Amy Standen, and Conundrums. But we included no callers, and there was a segment that we seem not to be doing any more called Philosophy Talk Goes to the Movie. Because the pilot was pre-recorded, and because we had no radio station partner at the time, it has never aired. But if you are reading these notes, you can be one of the priviledged few to hear Philosophy Talk at one of its earliest incarnations.
