Philosophy Talk is delighted to announce a new column on our blog called "Francis on Film" with our newest contributor, Leslie Francis! 

Leslie is a philosophy professor and law professor at the University of Utah.  A major attraction of Utah for her is the Sundance Film Festival; last year, she saw 22 movies in 9 days and she’s planning to see more this year. She will be blogging and tweeting for Philosophy Talk from Sundance, January 19-29, so look out for her on Philosophers' Corner, as well as on our Twitter feed using the hashtag #FrancisOnFilm. 

Philosophically, Leslie just finished her term as President of the Pacific Division of the American Philosophical Association. Her fields include applied ethics of all types, disability, philosophy of law, and law and health care. Her edited collection, the Oxford Handbook of Reproductive Ethics, is due out in print in January 2017 (it’s already available online here), and her Privacy: What Everyone Needs to Know (with co-author John G. Francis) will be published by Oxford in June 2017.  Her overall approach to philosophy involves thinking about what matters in contexts of injustice; movies are a great laboratory for this.  Movies have been part of her life since she met her husband, John, at Michigan; her daughter is now a wardrobe stylist and costume designer in Hollywood.
