The feminist movement, the civil rights movement, and the gay liberation movement are all examples of this kind of political organizing.

It is good thing to have anIt is good thing to have an identity. I have no quarrel with that. But, your map illustrates another side of the identity thing- a side which is arguably a problem. There is a growing concern with tribalism in the land. Tribalism within our very government and political process, which threatens democracy, "and the very fabric of American life..."---Feel free to attribute that quotation to a dozen or more sources in the last dozen years. Identity politics is divisive and becoming more so and our preciously-held freedoms are tearing us apart. Seems to me...
